Festival-Inspired Summer Camp Wedding at Camp Wamp in Truckee, California

Andi and Matt’s wedding at Camp Wamp in Soda Springs, near Truckee, unfolded in a setting that felt expansive, natural, and quietly immersive.

Surrounded by lakes, pine trees, peninsulas, and open trails, the environment didn’t need to be transformed—it simply held the day as it was.

A Summer Camp Wedding Inspired by Music, Food, and the Outdoors

Their approach to the day reflected what they value most: good food, music, and time spent outside.

Choosing a summer camp wedding wasn’t a theme—it was a continuation of how they already live.

The color palette followed that same intention. Rich greens, maroons, and browns grounded the setting, while coral, mustard, and peach added warmth and movement.

Nothing felt separate from the landscape. It all belonged.

Lakefront Ceremony and Festival-Style Wedding Experience

The day unfolded with a sense of flow rather than structure.

  • A lakefront ceremony set within the natural landscape

  • A beachside cocktail hour that eased into the evening

  • Late-night music and open movement between spaces

  • Guests camping on-site, extending the experience beyond a single day

There was space to move, gather, and return—more like a shared environment than a scheduled event.

Matt’s father, a wine enthusiast, added a personal layer by sharing bottles with close family and friends—something quiet, but deeply felt.

Why Camp Wamp Is a Unique Truckee Wedding Venue

Camp Wamp offers something distinct from traditional Lake Tahoe venues.

  • Located in Soda Springs, near Truckee, CA

  • Surrounded by lakes, forest, and open terrain

  • Designed for multi-day, immersive experiences

  • Allows on-site camping for guests

It’s a setting that supports a different pace—less contained, more experiential.

The Story Behind Camp Wamp

Camp Wamp holds a purpose beyond the events it hosts.

Founded by Steve and Elizabeth Wampler, the camp was created to provide outdoor experiences for children with physical disabilities—something Steve himself experienced growing up.

What began as a small, leased space evolved into a permanent home in the Sierra Nevada mountains, built around a clear vision: access, adventure, and pushing limits within nature.

Today all proceeds from events go towards supporting the disabled kids and their summer camps.

A Wedding That Moves Freely

Andi and Matt’s wedding didn’t follow a strict structure.

It moved—through music, conversation, shared meals, and time spent outdoors.

A day shaped less by timeline, more by experience.

Planning a Camp Wamp or Truckee Wedding

For couples drawn to something less traditional—more open, more immersive—venues like Camp Wamp offer a different way of gathering.

One that allows space for both structure and spontaneity.

We document weddings that unfold this way—where the environment is part of the experience, and the moments are allowed to happen without interruption.
